Forest Hills
Queens
Considered one of the most desirable places to live, Forest Hills is a diverse neighborhood in the center of Queens. This laid-back community is bounded by 62nd Drive, Thornton Place to the west, Metropolitan Avenue to the south, Union Turnpike to the east and the Grand Central Parkway to the north.
Real estate in Forest Hills is of a particularly high quality and the options are diverse. The southern part contains a mixture of upscale housing, ranging from single-family houses, attached townhouses and both low-rise and high-rise apartment buildings. The rest of Forest Hills offers a wonderfully diverse mix of residential real estate, including condos, pre-war co-ops, and smaller single-family homes, some historic and some new construction.
One of the most exclusive addresses in the city, the Forest Hills Gardens area is a private community in the center of the neighborhood that features some of the most expensive residential properties in Queens County. Unlike any other residential zone in the city, the Tudor and Georgian homes with large yards and mature trees look much the same as when they were built in the early 20th century.
Austin Street, a main thoroughfare through the northern part of Forest Hills, is lined with historic brick storefronts, home to hundreds of independent boutiques, restaurants, bars and cafes.
Two large parks flank the neighborhood, Forest Park and Flushing Meadows Corona Park, offering every type of outdoor activity, from hiking and biking, athletic fields, equestrian activities, to boating and fishing nearby.
